A brief review of Eclipses

Eclipse season is a time of change, whether through endings or new beginnings, felt most keenly by those with a planet or point near the eclipse degree.  

We may still be affected if the eclipse falls in our sun or rising sign, even if we don’t share a degree with the eclipse.  

The change an eclipse brings is typically tied to events outside our ability to control–we can only accommodate the changes in our lives willingly or unwillingly, with acceptance or with resistance.     

Eclipses are many times stronger than a regular new or full moon, and they can activate the sign and house opposite from the one in which they occur.   

Eclipses expose what’s hidden from your awareness (including secrets) and bring to light essential information you need.

Venus in Libra

This full moon in Taurus is likely to be destabilizing, potentially bringing upheaval in the form of a sudden change of heart involving a partnership or money matter which can trigger a change to the status of the relationship.

Odds are, as we move forward, whatever these changes are, we can successfully rebuild from a much stronger foundation.

As we move forward in doing that, this full moon invites us to dig deep into examining what really matters. We are encouraged to follow our desires and in doing so, ask ourselves meaningful questions:

What gives me a sense of security?

What gives me a sense of financial stability?

What do I find comfortable? Comforting?

How do I best deal with disruptions?

What gets me out of my comfort zone?

Am I being motivated by my vanity or my values?

How have my priorities changed?

This lunar eclipse invites you to articulate your values. Get clear and specific. What do you really want? Take action toward that!

Move towards love and genuine partnership.

Watch for good news.

Mars in Pisces

December brings a challenging new moon with a mix of energies and aspects going on and multiple important planets debilitated and therefore not offering their best expression or highest qualities.

There is a risk of scandal with this new moon, of disappointing news, or of secrets being revealed to the public, such as private information or private communications coming out.

At the new moon however, the damage is already done and we are dealing with the aftermath or damage control.

Stratagems and machinations become apparent through the digging up of secrets and dirt.

There is a social cost incurred, such as a severing of social contacts or a loss of social capital or influence.

Be watchful of attempts to manipulate outcomes.

There may be secret benefactors involved behind closed doors and private commitments being made, all very hush-hush.

The outcome of this new moon is likely to be somewhat disappointing as our rulers are at odds:

Mars squaring Pluto from not-so-compatible Pisces, indicating conflict between the “old guard” and the “new guard”;

and Mars engaging the lunar node as they perfect their square to Neptune, the planet of disappointment. This square perfects in late January, on the 25^th, when we may see that disappointment become reality.

Eclipses on the south node can tend to create an energetic vacuum in that sign as something or someone, usually a man, is eclipses out of our lives permanently. This can trigger an inrush of energy into the sign opposite (Taurus) so if you are directly affected by this eclipse, keep your eye on your Taurus house for something new to enter your life.
