April 2019 Monthly Overview – Sidereal Monthly Horoscopes

(UPDATE: A previous version of this forecast erroneously referred to Mars retrograde--Mars will not be retrograde in 2019. While Neptune transiting 9H (publishing and astrology!) Jupiter surely contributed to my brain fog of late, I accept full responsibility for the error and I apologize for any confusion I may have transferred to you the reader by overlooking this error when publishing. :/ Now that Mercury has moved on I see my mistake and this article has been updated to reflect the correction. Thanks for understanding! =) )

Welcome to Sidereal Insights, every month we explore the astrology of the current planetary transits across the heavens from a western sidereal perspective.

Be sure to read for your sidereal sun and rising sign, which may be different than the sign you’re accustomed to. Sidereal astrology is different from traditional tropical astrology, so your regular sun and rising signs may not apply in a sidereal reading or forecast.

If you need to look up your sidereal sign placements, use the easy online calculator at https://mystickphysick.com/sidereal-tools/ to find out for free.

April marks the beginning of our annual celestial slowdown, so expect the pace of life to shift as we move through the month. Even while Mercury has resumed direct motion, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will all take turns entering retrograde as we progress through the month.

Mercury conjunct Neptune

Watch for secrets to be revealed and for hidden information to come to light in the days near April 2nd, when Mercury meets up with Neptune in Aquarius. Gossip and scandal are a real risk at this time.

If you have your sidereal natal chart, look for planets or personal points at 22° Aquarius to see if you will be directly affected.

New moon in Pisces

The April 5th new moon in Pisces arrives in a cloak of dreaminess, with Neptune still in close enough proximity to Mercury to cast a fog over communications and give words the power of illusion. At the same time, artistic Venus gains ground on Pisces’ ruler, taking on Neptune’s dreamlike quality as she approaches.

This new moon can support imaginative and inventive group efforts and team problem solving, or any group activity or endeavor that requires a degree of creativity and cleverness at creating illusion--community theater, for instance.

Mercury sextile Saturn

Long term agreements which may have seemed difficult or impossible to come to accord on in the past two months may show signs of progress near the the 7th, when Mercury and Saturn exchange friendly greetings.

Sun trine Jupiter retrograde, Venus sextile Pluto,

The 14th presents a better opportunity to make an appeal when dealing with VIPs and those in positions of power, so make your petition to that authority figure now.

Leo readers may find they have a second chance to take a financial or creative risk and have it pay off, especially if a previous attempt didn’t pan out.

Venus square Jupiter retrograde, Sun enters Aries

On the 15th, Jupiter squares off with Venus as he retraces his steps through sidereal Scorpio, perhaps giving Taurus and Libra readers a little more challenge than they bargained for but not more than they can handle.

The sun moves into Aries on the 15th of April, beginning his annual tour of the sign of the ram, energizing and stimulating life and the germination of seeds previously planted in the area of life governed by Aries in your sidereal natal chart.

Venus enters Pisces

The next day, Venus leaves the sign of the water bearer for Pisces, where she’ll be in exaltation for the coming three and 1/2 weeks. Exalted planets display their finest qualities, and for Venus that means cooperation, generosity, harmony, artistic ability, beauty, and fairness--but above all, it means love and genuine appreciation.

Full Moon in Libra

The April 19th full moon in Libra inclines us to cooperation and advocacy in our interpersonal relations, and can assist in bringing about fair and equitable outcomes. We strive for an ideal in pursuit of mutually beneficial results, and with Venus in exaltation in Pisces, the sign of self sacrifice, we may very well find ourselves in a win-win situation in the days around this full moon.

The Libra full moon is a great time to indulge in appreciation of the arts, music, and other entertainments, and can be profitable for business and partnerships.

One caveat to accompany this full moon: Venus, while exalted, is unaspected and that will tend to have a wild card effect on the outcome of this full moon. Be vigilant for lazy, greedy, or co-dependent behavior and the tendency to indecision, as the lack of aspects to modify Venus make her influence unpredictable and we may see the manifestation of Venus’s less desirable traits in the outcomes of the Libra full moon.

Mars out of bounds

Mars acts up when he goes out of bounds on the 20th of April--his best and worst qualities will be on display in all of us through mid June.

When Mars is out of bounds--meaning when he orbits north beyond the Tropic of Cancer or south beyond the Tropic of Capricorn--we have a tendency to become more headstrong, driven and ambitious than usual. Our courage runs higher, and we can be more willing to be brave..

We can also be far more self centered, impulsive and overly aggressive than we might otherwise be, and  out of bounds he’s likely to influence us to over react in rash and perhaps uncharacteristically violent ways.

We pick fights unprovoked, and overreact in anger. Be aware of this tendency and cultivate patience and compassion for yourself and for others. Practice forgiving and forgetting. This influence lasts until mid June, when Mars returns from out of bounds travel on the 12th.

Sun conjunct Uranus

Accidents and unexpected events are possible near April 22nd when the sun and Uranus meet up, as they do typically once a year. Readers with Aries, Leo, and Aquarius rising or sun signs are most likely to feel this, as will readers with a planet or personal point at 7° or 8° Aries.

Those readers born under the signs of the Lion or Ram may feel somewhat rebellious or seem more impulsive than usual, and there can be a risk of cuts, burns, puncture wounds, or accidents to the head for these natives when the sun and Uranus meet up.

Readers with Aquarius sun or rising may feel energized and somewhat invigorated by this transit, and could find themselves in the spotlight in some way. Overall, spontaneity is the word of the day.

Pluto stations retrograde

On the 24th Pluto stations retrograde late in his tour of sidereal Sagittarius, an annual window for turning inward to heal, explore the psyche, and renew and regenerate through our private inner worlds.

The pace of transformation and healing may seem to slow or even stall during this time, and issues involving sex, death, transformation, wealth, authority, influence, or power may come up for reexamination and transformation. This influence lasts just over five months, through October 3rd.

Mars square Neptune

Out of bounds Mars squares off with Neptune on the 27th, bringing the potential for conflicts over misunderstandings or deception. Confusion or lack of clarity can be particularly irritating, and it may be tempting to escape out of frustration.

Saturn stations retrograde

Then, at month’s end, Saturn begins his five month long retrograde in Sagittarius, giving readers of all signs an opportunity for a bit of a breather in the house Sagittarius occupies in the natal chart.

Sagittarius marks where we are being challenged through difficult lessons, and with the taskmaster planet in a weakened state we’ll collectively get a reprieve--at least until after September 18th when Saturn finally returns to direct motion.

about me

My astrological explorations began in 1994 and have taken me on an amazing, decades-long journey of discovery beginning with the teachings of Sybil Leek and continuing with those of Joanna Woolfolk, Nicholas Campion, Max Heindel, Ptolemy, Susan Miller, Carol Rushman, Steven Forrest, Cyril Fagan, Robert Powell, and Dane Rudhyar, to name just a few. I began reading privately for family and close friends in 2003 and following a profoundly transformational spiritual experience opened my practice to the public through Mystick Physick in 2014.

Now more than ever I see the need in the world for the life and soul guidance that astrology can offer to those who seek to understand its sublime language. Collectively we are waking up and determined to find meaning and purpose in our daily lives. This is the gift that astrology offers us.

I’m Phaedra, astrologer and artist of Mystick Physick. I make my home in Idaho’s gorgeous Treasure Valley with my husband of 20 years, our dog Rocket and cat Jet. In my natural habitat I can usually be found meditating, continuing my ongoing astrological explorations, painting to the astrological rhythms of the solar system, or reading about the latest discoveries in the science of consciousness or astrophysics.
