September 2017 Forecast
Welcome to Mystick Physick Astrology, every month we explore the astrology of the current planetary transits across the heavens from a western sidereal perspective.
Be sure to read for your sidereal sun and rising sign, which may be different than the sign you’re accustomed to. Sidereal astrology is different from traditional tropical astrology, so your regular sun and rising signs may not apply in a sidereal reading or forecast.
If you need to look up your sidereal sign placements, use our easy online sidereal calculator to find out for free.
In like a lamb, out like a lion could be used to sum up September. The first half of the month is quite enjoyable on the surface, but an undercurrent of tension reaches a peak during the second half.
September starts off enjoyably enough, what with Mercury still retrograde in Leo, smack in the middle of sidereal Leo season.
News is possible on the 3rd when retrograde Mercury and Mars have business together in Leo. Be careful of saying something impulsively or having a knee-jerk reaction to news–try to keep your ego out of things near that date.
There’s plenty of synergistic activity going on during the first week of September, and with Neptune challenging the sun from airy Aquarius, there may be knowledge we need that we don’t have. Whether it’s being kept from us, or we just don’t know what we don’t know is anybody’s guess, but you can bet the eclipses of August will bring it to light eventually.
Mercury stations direct early in the month, a welcome relief for all readers, but especially those with Virgo or Gemini sun or rising signs.
Eclipse season is still winding down, so for a small percentage of you eclipse news may be delivered near the September new and full moons, the 6th and 20th.
Mid month begins the shift as Mercury brings surprise news and Saturn imposes limits on what we can do with it or about it.
Be patient, because in just a few days the perfect opportunity will arise unexpectedly, just as several planets make the transition to new signs: Venus into Leo the 15th, Jupiter into Libra the next day, followed by the sun into Virgo on the 17th.
By the time of the new moon on the 20th, expect things to have worked out.
But after the new moon, life gets a little more complicated.
Venus’s move into Leo suggests an opportunity to let a partner take the lead for the next three weeks.
The next day, Jupiter’s move into Libra puts the emphasis on balance and fairness in partnerships, which should be easy as we’ll be feeling generous with our partners while Jupiter transits Libra for the coming year–just don’t overdo generosity to the point of resentment.
Readers of every sign will have a unique opportunity to put Jupiter’s transit of Libra to work next month after the new moon in Libra late October, so be sure to use the intervening time to plan what major initiation you’d like to make.
The planets can set up the best circumstances but if you don’t act to take advantage when the time is ripe, then you can never hope to reap the benefit. Remember, Jupiter is the great benefic and expands what he touches. He brings luck and gifts in the house he transits, taking roughly a year in each sign and house.
The new moon in Libra will unlock Jupiter’s energy, giving every sign eleven months to take advantage of the growth potential.
The Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide
This 33 page guide is filled with everything you need to know to rock any retrograde!
Mercury and Mars have unfinished business from their September 3rd conjunction while Mercury was retrograde. If September 3rd delivered news for you expect final word to come near the 16th as Mercury, now direct, conjoins Mars once again.
The sun enters sidereal Virgo on the 17th, highlighting work and health practices, bookkeeping, and practical day-to-day matters for the coming four weeks–we’ll concern ourselves with practical considerations rather than lofty or spiritual matters.
Mercury finally leaves the shadow of his retrograde on the 18th, and we can safely conduct normal business free from his typical retrograde shenanigans.
The new moon in Virgo on September 20th opens an opportunity to establish new patterns of behavior more beneficial to our health and productivity. It’s time to move on from frivolous or wasteful habits.
You might learn something which was hidden or being kept from you–watch near the new moon for news or revelations.
A VIP or authority figure could have good news for us near the 22nd.
Strap on your helmets the 24th through the 27th though, because secrets are coming out near the 24th and you can bet there will be repercussions with Mars involved.
Then, on the 27th, even more big surprises are possible–but we may not be in a position to discuss them just yet.
On the 28th, Pluto stations direct after five long months retrograde.
Pluto could trigger influential events near this date if you have a planet or personal point at 22 °s Sagittarius.
Venus opposes Neptune on the 29th, not a day for entering into business arrangements, or having beauty treatments, including cosmetic surgery. Stay well away from this date if you’re considering them.
